Introduction Hello guys, what’s good? My name is Ofai, this is my first time blogging so bear with me. I’ll be dealing with self-improvement because it’s something that we all desire but not all of us have quite achieved it. Actually it's something you have to keep doing insatiably because most likely you can still keep improving yourself. GEMS with O tackles such issues from my perspective and is also gonna be filled with my personal stories. So be on the lookout guys. LAZINESS
It’s 6am you hear the alarm go off, you snooze it, you basically go through a couple alarms and whaddya know now it’s 7am, and it’s about an hour drive to work. Now you’re panicking but there’s nothing you can do so you roll outta bed with reluctant haste, wash your face and hair because no time for a proper shower, you brush your teeth or just pop some pellets of gum and off you go! You say to yourself that’s never happening again but you said that the last time and the last time before that and you don’t wanna admit to yourself but now it’s a solid habit you can’t seem to shake off. This is definitely an indication of laziness. Laziness is a habit, a lifestyle, but don’t mistake it for tiredness.
So now what is laziness?
To me laziness is just being satisfied without doing work, especially productive or beneficial work because it will remove you from your COMFORT ZONE. This might be a simplistic definition but it covers the main issues related to laziness. This differs from tiredness because genuine tiredness is usually a result of work but it’s not always the case with laziness.
Symptoms of Laziness
Reluctance or unwillingness to do tasks
Living in fantasies
More sleep time
All these things usually stem from fear, worry and doubt (FWD) or as I’ll nickname them the Destructive Trio (I know, cool name, right? lol) …more on this in future posts.
First of all, you have to realize the simple truth that YOU ARE 100% RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR LIFE!!! Not your God, not your family, not friends, but YOU! No one is gonna come save you, no god or human being from somewhere will save you, no one likes deadweight or unreasonable burden; I mean you’re lazy because you thinking working hard is a burden anyway! I know it seems I’m hammering on this point too harshly but it’s the harsh reality because when you’re 18+ and of sound mind and body you have the tools to build an empire. Look at the Paralympics, these are disabled people making everyone proud. The fact that they did not think their life was over due to their disability is a testimony alone in itself. I know I don’t know your problems but we all have problems or issues but no one is praised for entering a problem only creating solutions. Inside you there are two sides that constantly fight over you and they’ll always be part of you. On the red corner, we have productivity and the blue corner we have non-productivity. Imagine these two entities are two people in a race, any time you follow one and not the other a hurdle or obstacle is put in front of the other thereby slowing them down or making it more difficult to operate.
Even now I still struggle with laziness, it’s a temptation that never goes away. It’s a bad habit and I’m trying to replace it with something more productive. I can’t lie I still fall more times than I rise but that’s okay because if I don’t fail, my success won’t be as sweet or as memorable or better still relatable, and the goal is to be relatable here.
I can go on and on because I love to tell stories but we shall continue next week because this will be a weekly segment. Thank you very much for reading this I hope I’ve been able to entertain you at least relate to you. Please leave your comments below and perhaps share some of your stories with us.
Peace and Love.
